The only way to ensure that everyone on aOK is safe and protected from scammers, strangers and bots is to verify the identity of every user to the same level a bank would verify you by using an ID card or passport. This makes for a safe space for users to communicate with friends, family and new contacts with the assurance they really are who they claim to be.
aOK relies on trusted verifiers with direct access to government identity databases to authenticate the identity document you present during identity verification. The process verifies your identity document is real and currently valid and matches your selfie to your document using your facial biometrics.

Your personal data is encrypted and stored on your device and in an encrypted vault in the cloud that only you can access.
Only you have direct access to your personally identifying information (your "PII"). Neither aOK, nor any third party can access your PII without your direct consent, which can only be granted via your verified biometric signature as obtained within the aOK app. User-controlled access is the foundation of the aOK infrastructure, and it is critical to preserving your privacy and maintaining a service you can trust.
